Good size for my son, however, needs modification for proper tuning, January 9, 2011

This review is from: Epiphone Zakk Wylde Signature Bullseye LP PeeWee Pack, Antique Ivory (Electronics)

This Pee Wee Guitar would be a five star instrument if it were not for the poorly positioned wraparound bridge.

The things that I really like about this guitar are:
    1) The size is perfect for kids ages 5 to 8+. We also have a Squier Mini Strat Electric Guitar (Black), but that is still too big for my son.

    2) The instrument has an awesome finish

    3) The fret edges are all smooth (unlike on the mini -squire)

What I am not so crazy about are:
    1) Poor string intonation which cannot be set individually due to the stock wraparound tail piece bridge (similar to this ->Compensated Wrap Around Bridge Stop Tailpiece – Chrome); thus making the instrument un-tunable.

    2) Spending another $100 to replace that TOY bridge with a real one. Fortunately, this guitar uses a standard size bridge so I am able to replace it with a TonePros AVT2 Wraparound Bridge. The new bridge will allow me to set the intonation individually on each string and make the guitar tunable. Make sure you get the version with the metric screws (ie w/ SNM1).

Being in tune is so important for development of the musical ear. Zakk dude, if you read this, please get them to put a better bridge on this thing even if it makes it a little more expensive.

    UPDATE:
    1) If you get a new bridge, make sure you get it with METRIC screws!
    2) As it turns out, the biggest reason for the poor intonation on my guitar was that the bridge was mounted too close to the neck, by about 1/4″. So, the easiest way to correct this problem was to move the neck about that distance away from the body. It is a bolt on, so that was not a problem. Just make sure you drill your pilot holes first. Once I repositioned the neck, I was able to use the new bridge in the original holes and properly set the intonation of each string.
    3) It took some work and extra $$, but now the guitar is set up very nicely and it sounds and plays great!

We bought this guitar for our 2 year old son, who absolutely loves it! He is able to hold it fairly well and loves to play it. It was a gift for his second birthday.
