The Gibson Les Paul Special’s strong mahogany body is carved with a single cutaway for great upper-fret access, and was offered a flat “slab” top for ease of manufacture. The neck on the Les Paul Jr Particular cutaway guitar is constructed from solid mahogany carved to Gibson’s well-liked “slim taper” profile, which gives a blend of speed and comfort. The neck shape on the Gibson Les Paul Junior guitar is an outstanding marriage between the rounded ’50s profile and super-slim early ’60s profile. An ebony fingerboard enhances the Gibson guitar’s note attack and articulation.Dual Gibson P-90 pickups give the Les Paul Junior Specific guitar a snappy, slightly gritty response, with a chunky midrange, firm lows, and sweet, musical highs.
