This review is from: Steinberger Steinberger GL/GT Guitar Hardshell Case (Electronics)

The photograph of this case makes it look a little nicer than it is. Specifically, I thought it would be thinner than it was. The case is as thick as a normal case, maybe a little more so. Perhaps some of my disappointment is not justified– it’s just hard to get excited about this case when compared to the gig bag. The the portability of the steinberger gl or gt is kind of impaired by the fact that this case, with guitar inside, is somehow quite heavy.

My biggest beef with it is that the handle is not placed in an ergonomically correct position. The weight of the guitar body drags the case toward the ground, much like a hardcase cut in the shape of a guitar, but unlike that kind of case, which uses the body of the guitar as a kind of counter-weight, this case is uncomfortable on the hand and wrist due to the bad placement of the handle.

Also, the materials quality is actually kind of shabby. It looks nice in the photo, but this thing is made in China all the way. A lot of hot glue is employed, trim is not uniform and even, the faux fur lining feels coarse, and the steinberger logo on the exterior of mine is slightly crooked.

But these are just details; I was just looking for the protection of a hard case and ultimately it is excellent in this regard. And at $75, it soundly whoops the $150 asking price of the gl/gt Hohner case, though I wonder if perhaps it’s nicer in some way.
